Repair Sessions
Starting on Saturday 10th January 2026

at her hands-on Book Rescuers Club half-day book repair workshop sessions, where you will learn and carry out various book repair skills. The sessions are held on Saturday mornings over 6 weeks. Join in for one or more sessions, depending on your project and your availability. See more details below.
Folkingham Book Rescuers Repair Workshops Include:
- A half-day workshop (9:30am to 12:30pm with a one-hour lunch afterwards for us all to sit, relax and chat all things books), with expert tuition from me as a professionally trained traditional bookbinder and restorer (see my 'Meet the Book Professional' page).
- Six repair sessions each focussing on different repair skills at each session (see details below), with the opportunity to practice and carry out hands-on book repairs. You can book to attend one or more sessions depending on your book repair project.
- Week 1 Saturday 10th January - Learn book repair materials, prepare your book for repair, carry out page repairs.
- Week 2 Saturday 17th January - Learn different sewing repair techniques, prepare your bookcloth and/or leather repair materials, carry out sewing repairs.
- Week 3 Saturday 24th January - Learn about and carry out spine lining repairs, and endband repairs.
- Week 4 Saturday 31st January - Learn about and carry out board repairs, and board reattachments.
- Week 5 Saturday 7th February - Learn about and carry out a spine repair.
- Week 6 Saturday 14th February - Learn how to create internal joint repairs and carry out colour blending of repair materials and discolouration.

- The use of a high quality bookbinders kit of carefully selected bookbinding tools and materials supplied by Learn Bookbinding, with other tools, repair materials and other bookbinding sundries needed for repair provided by me. - A vegetable soup and roll lunch with tea and coffee provided by Low Park Farm for the workshop (dietary needs can be catered for, please let me know when you book).
- Tea, coffee and water refreshments available throughout the workshop.
What Book To Bring to the Folkingham Book Rescuers Club Workshops:
- Bring an A4 size book or smaller, as it will greatly help whilst you are learning how to carry out repairs, and give you the best opportunity to complete your project in the time we have, enabling you to get the most from your workshop.
Workshop Student Guidelines:
- Workshops are only suitable for anyone aged over 18.
- Please note craft knives are part of the kits being used, and will be essential for taking part in the courses.
- Students must read and agree to the Terms and Conditions at the time of booking.
How to Find The Workshop at Low Farm Park in Folkingham:
- By Car/ Bus
Folkingham is situated 9 miles north of Bourne, 9 miles south of Sleaford and 2 miles south of the A52/A15 roundabout. To find Low Park Farm turn in to Spring Lane from the A15 (near village hall). Low Farm Park is straight ahead. *Please note: You cannot access Low Farm Park from Low Farm Drive. There is free parking at Low Farm Park.
There are a number of bus services that pass through Folkingham: Call Connect (Number 26), Delaine (Number 401) and Centrebus (Number 37) that runs between various locations and stopping at Market Place, Folkingham.
- By Train
The nearest train stations are Sleaford (9.5 miles) and Grantham (13 miles).
- If you are travelling by Bicycle
Low Farm Park has plenty of space for bicycles to be safely left outside The Old Cart Shed.
Workshop Access:
- Workshop classes take place in The Old Cart Shed at Low Farm Park, and will be held on the ground floor. The building is access via 2 steps from outside across a gravelled courtyard space, Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building there is no level access from the courtyard area to the workshop space.
- Access to the teaching space is available from 9:30am when The Old Cart Shed opens for our workshop.
